I have mixed feelings about trilliums. Mostly, I think they are a wonderful and intriguing plant. If undisturbed, they will carpet an area that they like; yet picking them can be very detrimental to the plant. As a girl who didn’t know about that harm, I used to take home arms full to my ‘other’ grandmother—the one I didn’t live with—and watch them turn from a glorious white to fetching shades of rosy pink as they aged in vases.
